PROBLEMS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE COVID-19 AGE AND IN THE FUTURE

This year, CIT faculty members took part in a three-day webinar organized by the Hellenic International Relations Office of the Hellenic Mediterranean University from Greece and EVM, an SME from Spain.

The CIT department was represented by prof. Alexander Tarasov, prof. Pavlo Sagaida, assoc. Lyudmila Vasilieva, assoc. Eduard Gribkov, assoc. Lina Bogdanova, assoc. Valery Kravchenko. Invitation received through participation in the Desire project from the project coordinator: Ing. Dirk Van Merode MSc, ACTEA Coordinator, Department of Science and Technology, Antwerp, AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

The topic of the webinar is urgent - the transition from full-time to online learning. The key issues facing higher education stakeholder groups were addressed:

Challenges / tasks for students:

• Impact on curricula.

• Change the delivery method from personal to online format.

• Emotional support from teachers and universities during their studies in isolation.

• Collect student feedback on their views on issues.

Challenges / tasks for teachers:

• Integration of online technologies into their learning.

• Choosing the appropriate pedagogical approach for synchronous and asynchronous online learning. Emotional self-support during online learning.

• The best way to offer students emotional support during online learning.

• In the future: integration of online methods and blended learning methods when leaving the isolation mode.

Challenges / challenges for organizations during the Covid-19 crisis:

• Emotional support of students and teachers during this period.

• Impact of Covid-19 on student and staff mobility under Erasmus +.

• Support for international students during this period.

• Future: integration of online and blended learning schemes.

All speakers who participated in the webinar have experience in online learning technology, online learning pedagogy and online learning that offers emotional support.
